Swisse Wellness, part of H&H Group and a certified B Corp organisation is a global brand specialising in vitamins, supplements and wellness products. The company set out to create more than a warehouse with its new 17,000 sqm National Operations Centre in Melbourne’s west, affectionately known as The Hive. The facility consolidates three sites into one purpose-built hub supporting TGA-licensed packing operations, warehousing, on-site product development and innovation capability, as well as national distribution managed by Maersk.
Key Highlights:
- 8-week Project Schedule
- 17,508 Pallet Locations
- 12.5 m Single-piece Uprights
- 67 Tonnes of CO2 Saved
- Australian Made Pallet Racking
Delivering a Sustainable, Future-Ready National Operations Centre
Designed to service more than 16 countries, the facility employs over 100 staff and acts as both an operational and cultural hub for the region. Alongside advanced logistics capability, The Hive includes a modern office environment and on-site gym, reflecting Swisse’s focus on wellbeing and high performance.
The Challenge
Swisse required a storage solution capable of supporting high-volume national and international distribution while integrating seamlessly into a purpose-built facility designed for operational efficiency and environmental performance.
The initial phase, led by our national sales manager Cameron McNaughton, was critical in securing and establishing the foundation of the project. Cameron worked closely with Swisse, the developer Dexus and an appointed consultant to understand operational requirements and develop the storage solution that would support the facility’s long-term performance.
During the design stage, the racking layout was resolved in collaboration with the project team so that building services, fire systems and structural infrastructure could be coordinated around the storage configuration.
This early alignment ensured compliance with regulatory requirements, maximised the usable footprint of the building and enabled warehouse operations to be optimised from day one.
The Solution
The installation includes 17,508 pallet locations of Australian-made Silverline® Pallet Racking, supported by dedicated picking zones incorporating pick shelving and carton live storage trays to support accessibility and fulfilment.
The high-bay system was engineered using single-piece uprights reaching 12,500 mm, avoiding the need to splice materials. This improved manufacturing and installation efficiency, while delivering the structural integrity and racking heights required to maximise warehouse capacity.
Manufactured locally from high tensile steel, Silverline® Pallet Racking is designed for demanding warehouse environments like this one. Its galvanised finish delivers long-term corrosion protection and contributed to creating a bright and modern looking warehouse within the temperature-controlled facility, operating without skylights.
Beyond operational performance, Silverline® Racking also supports Swisse’s sustainability objectives. Manufactured in Australia, this pallet racking reduces freight impact and CO₂ emissions by 85%.
For this project, Swisse’s decision to proceed with Silverline® Racking was able to prevent 67 tonnes of CO₂ from entering the atmosphere*. This is equivalent to the annual carbon absorption of more than 3,300 mature trees.

Project Delivery
SSS Project Manager Jazmyn Wray oversaw the coordination and delivery of the installation, managing site sequencing, contractor alignment and integration with the broader construction program.
Materials were manufactured and delivered to site in just weeks of order confirmation, with the full installation completed within an eight-week program.
Through regular coordination with project partners, Jazmyn ensured the racking installation progressed in line with the overall build schedule while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and compliance.
The result was a controlled and well-managed delivery that supported the successful completion of The Hive.
The Outcome
The Hive now operates as Swisse Wellness’ consolidated national operations hub, bringing together TGA-licensed operations, product development and distribution within a single integrated facility.
Purpose-built for performance and designed around an optimised storage layout, the site increases storage capacity and supports Swisse’s international distribution network.
With Australian-made Silverline® Pallet Racking reducing embodied carbon and the facility incorporating advanced building systems to improve operational efficiency, The Hive demonstrates how infrastructure decisions can deliver both operational performance and measurable sustainability outcomes.
“From the moment we engaged Safer Storage Systems through to final delivery, the experience was phenomenal. Getting the storage layout right early was critical because it allowed the racking design to be integrated into the building itself. That meant the sprinkler systems, lighting, ventilation and fire protection could all be coordinated around the warehouse fit-out.
It really felt like a true partnership throughout the project, which is something we value highly when delivering a facility of this scale.”
